An Odd Friday

Yeah, this definetely is an odd friday. Usually this time I'm excited for the weekend and (first and foremost) off the work. Now, instead of that I'm writing this blog in my living room with a litre of pineapple juice and my hangover sunglasses on. You probably can read between the lines - I had a drink or two last night, but that's only due to the fact that I have work tomorrow, on Easter saturday... beginning at 5 in the bloody morning ! So that's how fun I'm gonna have at least for the first half of Easter holidays. Now let's concentrate on some more positive things.

I've been recently watching again probably my favorite television series - The Office (the original UK version, not the US version) . I had not seen the first season of the Office for a while and seeing the season for the second time I gotta say - the best season of any TV show ever. Something about the man behind all this, Ricky Gervais. Ricky is a winner of several BAFTA, Emmy and Golden Globe awards, the co-creator of brilliant TV shows The Office and Extras. His humor is one of a kind - the intelligent and creative jokes make The Office (as well as the Extras for the most part) the best comedy show up to date. If you still haven't seen any of his work and like intelligent and unique humour I strongly recommend checking out The Office and Extras, some extremely hilarious shit.

Okay, this text is starting to sound too much of a serious Time Magazine article (but hey, what can ou expect from hangoverish me) so let's get more of some random notes :
  • According to Finnish newspapers, a boy in Vantaa, Finland got an overdose of nutmeg. So all you trendy rock starts in Hollywood, forget cocaine and acid - nutmeg's the shit.
  • Flow Festival (held in Helsinki, Finland) released it's lineup. A couple of good names there such as DJ Mehdi, Fever Ray, Tuomo, as well as the familiar Top Billin' dj collective and the New Judas DJs.
  • Kanye West has apparently changed his name to Martin Louis The King jr. as a tribute to Louis Vuitton and Martin Luther King. It is still unknown to me if he changed he's real name or just his 'stage name'. However, one thing is sure, money makes people mad :D Let's let the man explain himself :

Despite of my hangover I've been listening to a lot of music today and because I don't have any special musical topic to write about I'll just get some of the songs I've listened today and make it the playlist of the week. Note that I've started to link the songs in the playlist so now you're only one click away from all the great songs I'm posting.

The Friday Hangover Playlist
  1. The Raconteurs - Many Shades of Black
  2. Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum
  3. Nina Simone - Feeling Good
  4. Marlena Shaw - Woman of the Ghetto
  5. The Knife - Rock Classics

Now as I'm finishing the text the afternoon starts to fade into early evening and my hangover seems finally to be gone it's a good moment to stop writing. Until the next time...

- Samppa
